Zen Your Life Thursday: Start where you are right now

Posted by Goddess Leonie on February 4th, 2010. Filed under: Zen Your Life.

Hey beautiful hearts!

I wanted to do a new feature each week here at Goddess Guidebook – Zen Your Life Thursday!

A day we can do just one small thing to make our life calmer and more zen.

Because we need some goodness. We need space. And when we make space? It is sacred, beautiful transformation. It is soul work and physical work that can make us feel lighter and clearer.

Each Thursday I’ll post your Zen Your Life project for the day… an easy, possible kind of project.

Sound like yummy delicious fun? Want some more zen goodness in your life?

Hurrah! Let’s start! We can doooo eeeeeeeet!

Today, your Zen Your Life project is:

Clear your desk… right where you are right now.

Just spend five minutes. Make it clear and zen.

You’ll be amazed at how different you’ll feel afterwards.

Report back if you need to. Whatever you need to create more zennish goddess goodness… give it to yourself.

Happy zennifying dearhearts!

big love you,

So I looked at my desk and thought yes I really should tidy it up. Now I have more space ;)

Thank you Leonie and little mermaid.
Bright blessing to you & yours

  2. Stephanie

OMG, this is so perfect. For three reasons:
    1) I read this in my blog feeder while procrastinating on getting some “real” work done because (drumroll, please) my desk is such a mess.
    2) I’ve had “clean up desk!” on my “things I really ought to just do already” list for, um, weeks now.
    3) It’s still early Wednesday evening here in Hawaii. So, while I’m thrilled I’ll have a clean desk tomorrow, I don’t actually have to lift a finger to make it happen for another twelve hours (’cause it’s a Thursday thing!).
I look forward to some zen-cleaning moments with my desk while I caffeinate tomorrow morning.
When I’m done with that, I might even sweep the floor.

  3. Goddess Leonie

Oooooh yeah ~ Goddess Barbara ~ We can clear away together :)

    *aaaaah space*

Goddess Stephanie ~ Oh *HURRAH* darling… l love the perfect synchronicity of it all… and wishing you happy zen-making adventures!

  4. Nina

    What a great idea :)
I published a book in Germany in 2007 with little nudges for everyday life – how to change things up, how to tackle things you pushed ahead of yourself for so long, …
So an idea like your Zen Thursday appeals to me a lot :) )
I do “clean desk policy” every night. But as to the shelf just above it … *whistles innocently and then goes to work on it*

  5. Samantha

Um… I’m on my iPhone! So instead I shall go through it’s “desktop” and delete and reorganise the apps… iZen!

  6. melita

i love it! i do a “monday moment of zen” on my blog since mondays seem to be so hard for everyone. looking forward to more zen! :) hugs!!

LOL! Great minds think alike! I was in the process of naming my ritual days and since I tend to straighten my house on Thursdays since we’re either going out of town or resting on the weekends, I decided it would be my ‘Make it Zen’ Day! How’s that for a sign from Great Spirit that I’m going in the right direction?!

  8. Toni Brown

What a brilliant and very …WARMING … idea … Zen Thursday. My desk got a nice sweep and shuffle and it’s so restorative an act, small and neat and like a sweet exhalation. Thank you!

  9. Stephanie

Stephanie in Hawaii reporting back in. It took more than 10 minutes, but at 9am my desk is clean, my (paper) inbox is emtpy, and all loose papers are in three tidy piles: active, file, and read/review. I even swept the floor. Ahhhhh. So nice!

Heading out to do errands in a little bit, and have added “orchid for office” to the list. I like to have one in that empty spot next to the printer, but none of my plants are blooming at the moment, which gives me an excuse to get another. (House rule: I can only buy a new orchid plant if none of the ones I’ve already got is in bloom– otherwise I’d blow the grocery budget on flowers!)

  10. Goddess Leonie

    Oh I flipping LOVE this… how exciting… zen-making goddesses!

    Zen thursday sounds wonderful!
My desk is where I do most of my creative things … And I can’t concentrate if my environment isn’t pretty and peaceful nothing creative gets done …
So I tidy my desk, and every day I mess it up again so every day I tidy it again … but it’s worth it!

Oh Leonie, I’ve been planning to tidy up my desk forever…

And Stephanie, I also read this in my RSS feed while procrastinating because stuff was getting overwhelming. You are definitely not alone!

Clean, tidy surface. All papers converted into to-dos, with only 2 papers left are the ones I’m working on this very moment. And I have 3 talismans hanging out with me: a kitchen timer, a little Zulu doll and a pewter coin (one side “relax”, the other side “go go go”).

Ahhhh. Leonie, this is so nice. And I only subscribed to your RSS yesterday, where was I before!

  16. Jill

I am settling in nicely for sure, thanks so much Goddess Leonie! You have a wonderful community here! :)

  18. Indigo Roo

Spent a few minutes straightening up my desk which is part computer desk and part work surface for my art. Learned two things from this experience — one, I need shelves and two, I need a bigger desk!!!

It felt good though to clear some of the clutter that accumulates. Zen Thursdays is a good idea. :-)

Ooh, this was perfect this morning. I cleaned my desk and was really strict, I wouldn’t allow myself a cuppa until I’d done it! It did take more than five minutes though ;o) A bit late I know but I’d only just seen your ‘Zen it Thursday’. Love it! Is it ok to put your little badge on my blog? x

  20. Marisa

    Hi Leonie,
I love the Zen Thursday theme and I will get right to this weeks task and clear my desk and table too. While I have several desk in my home, other than the one I use for my daycare, they seldom are used thus remaining neat most of the time. My area of clutter and discord falls mainly to by kitchen table which is always covered with newspapers, cookbooks, coupons, greeting cards waiting to be mailed etc. I love my large table…it is the hub of the house…and after I clear it off, I will be able to better enjoy its beauty.

Actually I found this little post today (Monday) after having just finished my list of ‘to do’ for this week. On it was emptying out purse and bag. Well did that and have just finished my desk! yay! It’s all good and now I’m ready to start on the ‘good stuff’! Time to paint without guilt! :)
