Mama Goddess Journey Video Post: Week 5 and 6

Posted by Goddess Leonie on August 8th, 2009. Filed under: Mama Goddess.

Hola beautiful souls,

I decided to start keeping a vlog-diary-bleary-eyed-pregnant-goddess thingy.

Rules are as such:

1a.) I will make them as honest as possible

1b.) I will not make things sound deeper/better/lovelier than they are

2.) I will do them exactly as I am (hello bed-hair and inside-out-pyjamas)

3.) I will try really, really hard not to make any excuses about them (that I frequently forget things during them, that I may not sound grateful for being pregnacious, that my fringe is untamable)

I think that’s all the rules. I forget ;)

Anyways, this is for three groups of peoples:

1.) Me and my lil family. It will be really nice to have a video record of this time.

2.) For anyone (bless their souls) who might be interested in the riveting details of this woman’s body (and life) changing.

3.) For any goddesses who are up the sacred duff too, and might find these helpful – or just really, really useful to hear another woman’s sacred duff story.

Okay, no more dot points.

Just the video. Splendidly imperfect as it is.

    What is the “sacred duff”? I googled it, but all the hits were you! (;

You’re so beautiful and brave and wonderful for sharing all of this. I’m grateful for knowing you and even more so for having you as my friend. <3

  5. Megamus

OooooOOooooh!!! Congratulations!!!!!! I am so excited for you and so thrilled to be able to witness your journey!

My little bear is turning one on Monday (!!), but I can very clearly remember early pregnancy. All through the video I was going “Oh yeah, that part was FUN!” :-P (re: the salt thing…I craved olives. Green ones. With pits, not pimentos. Very weird.)

Early on in pregnancy I told my friends that being pregnant was like stepping onto a rollercoaster, only blindfolded (so you couldn’t see what was up ahead, you just had to go with it when it came). From what I can tell so far parenthood is very much the same way (only with less regurgitation, thank goodness). It’s a scary, amazing, wonderful, sometimes disgusting, magical, challenging ride. But you’re going to do so great -you already are!!! :-) :-)

Much love to you and your tiny bean,

    Meg

  6. Fabeku

You are not only an adorable and awesomely real goddess, but it’s such a cool thing you’re doing here – documenting this miracle process at each step.

And not only documenting it, but sharing it.

Thanks for keeping it real, and for sharing such a beautiful thing with us.

  7. HOLLY - UK

Hello darling, this was so interesting, thankyou for sharing!!
I study nutrition, so just wanted to say a few things….
Definetly eat what your body asks for, dont hold back. If your body craves fish, it probably means your body wants Essential Fatty Acids – found in hemp seeds, flax seeds, their oils, coconut chips….
So just keep getting those juicy wild raw salads in ya’!!!!
Remember your feeding for 2, and your body is “growing” a baby, so try and get all the vits and minerals you can from healthy foods… and you’ll be absolutely fine darling!! Be interesting to hear how your diet/morning sickness etc evolves and fluctuates throughout your pregnancy!!! xx

Oh and just wanted to say im LOVING the new tabs on the right side of your blog – im telling you this blog is the best site for colourful, attrativiness, entertaining, most beautiful layout there is out there!! Seriously, no other blog compares to yours!!!! Its so delicious!!! xxx

  8. Shazza

This is so cool Leonie! You brought back so many memories of early pregancy that fly out of your mind as soon as the baby comes out. You will treasure these videos in the future. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Just a warning, I went from being vegetarian pre-pregnancy to wanting to eat nothing but red meat while pregnant. I figured my body must need it!
We’re thinking about creating a second baby at the moment, I hope so much that I can join you on your Mama Goddess journey really soon.
    Yay for comfy pregnancy jocks!

  9. Loran

Hello sweetness! I am at the other end of the spectrum, my baby is leaving for college! But I love following the pregnancies and birthings and growings of other little beans because it brings back so many memories.

    Take good care.

  10. kazari

I am also up the duff! A bit further along (I’ve just got some ultrasound pictures!) but I am so with you.
Knowing my body is one thing, but at the moment it’s throwing me all sorts of kookiness! I am enjoying being surprised every day.

  11. Meg

OMG!!! :o D It’s just become a day for lots of exclamation marks!!! A girl is out of the loop for… oooh, like ONE freaking week and look what happens when her back is turned! {Note to Self: Clearly, I need to be here daily to keep up!)
So happy for you and Chris, sweetheart! May everything be wonderful and I hereby tell that pesky morning sickness to bugger off !! Love to you, darl!
    Blessings,
    <3 Meg

It is now official…I have broken my personal record for “most gigglesnorts while watching a video.”

If the offspring doesn’t laugh at this stuff by & by, you might have a changeling!

    Blessed Be,
    VSD

Awwww!!! I want to come right over to Australia and give you a huge hug right now!!! What a wonderful way to share your journey! I have been down that path twice (my daughters are 10 and 15) and recognise so much in what you say. I love the humour you manage to put into even the gross bits and I ask the universe to help you keep that ability right through the journey :-)

I mostly identify with the sickness/food issues. With my first pregnancy I was sick morning, noon and night for about six months. I listened to what my body was telling me and for about three of those months I ate/drank nothing but blackcurrant juice, ready salted crisps and Farley’s baby rusks!!! I am happy to report that my daughter was born healthy and a good weight, so I must have done the right thing. Both times I’ve been pregnant I have found that I just can’t stomach tomatoes, which hurts me deeply as they are my favourite fruit, and can’t even stand the smell of tea – another huge thing for me to give up! All worth it though :-)

Keep smiling, keep listening to what your body and the baby tell you, keep being your wonderful, pregnant, goddess self. Sending much positive energy your way from the other side of the world xxx
