Hola gorgeous goddesses,

Whenever I can, I answer Ask Goddess Leonie questions.

I’ve still got a couple of questions backed up for me to answer, but here’s your chance to leave a comment and get your questions answered when I can about creativity, spirituality, spirited business, being a goddess, how I got to be doing what I do, living a joyful life – anything you’d like to know.

You can ask the question as your name, or post under a different name if you’d like to be anonymous – it’s all good.

Also, you might like to check out my new FAQs as well to see if I’ve already answered :)

    Dear Goddess Leonie,

I would really love to get into meditation. Where do I begin? Are there any books you can recommend? CDs? I am slightly overwhelmed by the amount of choice there seems to be!

    Dear Goddess Leonie:

I’ve been a writer for 23 years—a freelance writer for 13—so I have a certain amount of discipline and practice around writing. But now I’m trying to write a book and can’t seem to make myself do it! It’s not “writer’s block”…. I have a detailed outline and the book is essentially written in my head. But I’m avoiding doing the writing, even though my freelance business is slow and I have the time.

Is it fear of change? Is it a sign that I’m not pursuing the right thing? Or is it normal? And how do I move beyond this phase so I can live my dreams of being an inspirational writer?

    Oh, Goddess, what say you?

  3. Allysa

    Dear Goddess Leonie,
Where do you go to find your Gems of Joy and other inspiration when a WTF week happens. Recently it seems like every week has been a kick in the teeth (mad transition times do that) and I want to work on building up a strong joyful self that doesn’t get knocked down every time this happens I was wondering if you had any wisdom for me.
    Thanks
    Allysa

I discovered your blog not to long ago, and I’m completely inspired by you! So, my question is: Have you always been so free and happy and known that you were a goddess? Or, if not, at what point in your life did it kind of click for you? This is all so new and happy for me! You are beautiful! <3

  5. Laurie Stewart

How do you prioritize your days, months, years? How, when you are swimming with ideas, have desires to learn about and explore new people places and things. How do you do fuel your passions, and still try to balance work, family, friends, relationship, nutrition, exercise, feeding you spirit. How do you do so much and still remain grounded and clear?….I begin thinking about all the things my soul longs for and at first I feel excited and giddy then this turns to butterflies and then anxiety and ends in a big feeling of overwhelmedness. I have a friend that keeps telling me “you can do anything you just can’t do everything”.
Do you agree with this statement?

  6. Lis

Ooh … I like Laurie’s question! I also wonder how you balance your creative life with your teaching, blogging and then there is the laundry, shopping, cooking!

I mentioned on your last post how I have been contemplating starting a women’s circle and wondered what advice you might have on getting this going? A friend had suggested it and then went on to explain the circle she led years ago and how she had everyone read Jean Shiboda Bolen’s book and how they all had to commit to meeting or else the circle would not work. Sounds great, but I fear if I am too rigid in the “rules” people might be afraid to join. Any thoughts? I have a small list of people I want to invite forming in my head …

  7. Asha

I don’t have a question, but KTS… check out http://notforrobots.blogspot.com/ I love this lady. Her main tenet is that anyone for whom writing is not hard is a robot… and this site is NOT FOR ROBOTS. :-P You know how Leonie rules? Well, that is how this lady rules, but specifically for writing.

  8. Asha

Oh, wait, so… I’d like to second the gist of the “How to you find the time?” question. I have so many interests… books I’d like to read, art I’d like to make, poems that have yet to be written, and spiritual life I want to devote my time to… but I work two jobs — One full time, one part time = 60 hours a week. Then there’s the husband and the family I’m insanely close to (4 sisters!! I want to have, at the very least phone time with all of them). How to decide?

  9. Shirl

    Hola, Gorgeous Goddess!

First off, I want to give you a big, gorgeous hug and a thank you for the gift of inspiration…it was an a*mazing six weeks participating in the Goddess eCourse, and I’m eternally grateful to you and everyone I met through the course. What an experience!

I was wondering what your ideas were on a few subjects; things like synchronicities (do they really mean anything or are they just coincidences?), dreamwork (our higher selves or the Universe trying to tell us something or just indigestion?), and soulmates (crazy idea and wishful thinking or do we each truly have that one, amazing, authentic love out there?).

On the art side of things, any plans for a book? I think a Goddess Leonie book would be such an awesome idea~ I can totally see something along the lines of SARK’s books…You have so many ideas and concepts and such an amazing way of seeing the world and life…it would be a terrific idea!

I wish you and yours all the best in everything…and so many blessings to you on your new endeavor (the retreat looks sooooo divine!). Much love to you!

    Namaste~~~
    Shirl

I hope this isn’t too late, or too simple…

I love the little bit of flute music at the end of the Divine Dreaming meditation. Do you have any recommendations for anything similar? Thanks. :)

  14. Goddess Leonie

    Hola sweet Veronica!

I’ll answer your question now, as it’s muchos simple :)

The flute music at the end of that meditation is actually by me… *happy smile and blush* I’m glad you liked it! My love & I own Native American style flutes and took a workshop with a beautiful guy to learn how to play (http://earthsongflutes.com.au/)

The best flute music I can recommend for gorgeous listening is R Carlos Nakai (my favourite is Desert Dance: http://astore.amazon.com/goddessleonie-20/detail/B0000007WM)
His flute music is absolutely stunning… very soothing :)

    Hope this helps dearest!

I came here from your page with the meditation kits where you ask for suggestions what kits we’d also like to see.
Fitting the theme of the site (I thought) and really practical would be a short sort of “pick me up and shine”-meditation.
You will know when your child is there, what raising a toddler in stubborn-phase does to your motivation and strength, even if you work at something you love ;-)
So I was looking for something short and sweet (10 mins maybe?) that would instill joy and strength after a tough day so I can happily hop to my writing projects, instead of feeling my brain dribble out my ears from all the child tantrums and dog barking … ;-)

  24. Daniella

Hey goddess leonie, well im fourteen and i believe in being spiritual.I love meditating and my way of meditating is to just close my eyes and listen to everything around me.I really like your lovely ideas and i dearly look up to you.
my mum wouldnt let me buy anything spiritual but i would love if you could write more on your website about your life and your inspiritaional self and how you are so dedicated to spirituality. Hope i’ll discover the true me soon enough!

    Dear Goddess Leonie,

We have just met, but when I saw the pictures of you with your precious baby, I knew we already had a connection. She is a beautiful angel, and I congratulate you on your induction into the eternal excitement, anxiety, and overwhelming love that is motherhood. My Angel Face is fourteen years old, and we are still as close as ever. I cherish her every day.

I admire the amount of work you are doing on a daily basis with this new bundle to keep you company. I was not expecting nearly this many e-mails, and it is always such a thrill to see another handpainted, watercolored piece of encouragement and fulfillment in my inbox. Don’t feel as if you have to push too much for us, though. One thing I learned early on is that if you don’t fill your own cup, you won’t have anything left for anyone else. Be sure to get plenty of rest, and have fun with Ostara. Cherish every moment just as it is, and don’t listen to those who say, “Oh, just wait until she…” or “Uh-oh, now it’s time for…” My husband and I chose to have only one child, so I knew I would never experience those moments again. The rest would come later; I enjoyed who she was at every stage of her life. (Okay, except three. She was *horrible* at three! )

Peace to you, and please ignore anything I’ve said that does not resound with you. I know you will be getting far too much advice during this precious time, and I only want to bless you and encourage you. You are going to be an amazing mama. Ostara is truly blessed.

    Hey Leonie!

I was wondering if you know of any online resources and groups that focus on starting up a small, creative business – like what helped you, if anything, or would have been a help if you had known it at the time?

I just purchased this – http://unconventionalguides.com/art.htm and I’m on the waiting list for his empire building kit, but would love other sources as well.

I would love to find a small community of people who support each other in this effort, and any inexpensive resources, to keep me motivated and bounce ideas off of for a project that I’m really excited about :P

Thanks!!! sending lots of love to you and your gorgeous family!

    Dear Goddess Leonie,

thank you for all the light and love and humour you share with the world!

    Here is my question:

to my horror, a craft listing of mine was featured recently on Regretsy.com. And the 50+ comments about it were very nasty. I’m a tender-hearted creative and I love crafting, and this has really knocked my confidence. Intellectually I can see the funny aspect of this situation, and also the ‘mob mentality’ that spurned many of the comments, but my heart is still bruised.

Do you have any suggestions for healing a sore creative heart?

Thanks so much (and P.S. your little mermaid is such a delight)!!

  36. Melissa

    Hey Leonie!

I am a newie and have to say firstly that I LOVE what you have created with this wonderful site! It is really such an amazing gift that you have, as in just two days from reading through your website, you have already lifted my spirits and motivated me so much as I was really going through a very difficult time in my life and I did not see a light until seeing yours. ☺
I have a couple of questions, (sorry it may be a wee long…) I couldn’t resist as I know you are so inspirational ☺

    1. How did you first get in touch with your feminine essence? I ask this because I cant seem to let go of my personal blocks and fears. How did you delve into the world of being a goddess and being so spirited and glorious?

    2. I want to create a wonderful studio haven for me to feel alive and spirited to work in, but I am blocked and don’t know where to start. How do I attempt this?

    3. I want to start a business creating spirited artworks that are personalized and have a deep soulful meaning for the end customer. What helped you in terms of establishing yourself and marketing your spirited artwork and qualities to your target market? Do you know of any online resources and support groups that could assist me?

    4. And lastly… this is quoted from Laurie Stewart (thank you Laurie ☺ )
“How do you prioritize your days, months, years? How, when you are swimming with ideas, have desires to learn about and explore new people places and things. How do you do fuel your passions, and still try to balance work, family, friends, relationship, nutrition, exercise, feeding you spirit. How do you do so much and still remain grounded and clear?….I begin thinking about all the things my soul longs for and at first I feel excited and giddy then this turns to butterflies and then anxiety and ends in a big feeling of overwhelmedness….”

    Much Love

    Dear Leonie,

I know that you are very busy with your precious little girl and other family duties, but I wanted to ask you a question anyway. Its okay if you don’t have time to respond.
I am in a bit of a pickle. I can’t really explain too much, except to say that most of my friends and family think I’m crazy and irresponsible.
Even, I think I am crazy and irresponsible.
I’m starting to wonder if something is deeply wrong with me.
I wish so much to be just like you and full of happiness and joy… Could you please give me a word of encouragement?
    Thank you.

First I want to thank you for creating this special space. I truly love your emails and am really getting into the 2011 Goddess Guidebook and Calender. Your work is very light, sweet, and satisfying.
    So my question is this:
The work I do is feeling very heavy to me. Can you offer and suggestions to a Real Estate Goddess on how to inspire, create, and be “light” all the while being taken as a dedicated professional?

    Hi
I just came across your site this week & am blown away by it all. I was wondering, my fourth baby just weaned herself abruptly at 12 months. This is huge for me as I have actually been breastfeeding for 9 or so years, pretty much without a break. Do you know of, or can you think of some kind of ceremony to mark this as it is kind of the end of an era for me & I would like to mark it.
    Thank you so much

  53. Amanda

    OH my goodness, HI!

Hello! I am not sure if my message will ever be read or replied to, but I still wanted to send it. I found your page through one of those “intuitional steps” as I’d like to refer to it as.. where I’m having some sort of day and always stumble into things I’m meant to see that make everything bubbly and better again. I love your page because your attitude reminds me so much of yourself… I’ve been thinking about joining, but I’m worried. I used to have such a bright, hopeful, positive attitude in life but when I realized no one was there to support me when I needed a little help… I broke down.. and I’m still there. If this is answered… do you think you could help me? I may join by that time.. but I thought I would ask.. I feel like my soul is a little bit lost right now in a big tar pit… :( and it misses all those bright, shiny, fun colors that this world has to offer.. sometimes it comes up for sunshine, but it ends up right back into the tar pit within a few hours. :(

I just love your page.. thank you so much for sharing your love and light.
    Take care and Brightest Blessings,
    Amanda

    Hi, Goddess Leonie,

I am not sure if you´ll ever read this, but I feel I simply found on your work everything I have been looking for the past few years. I am just really sad it´s all sooooo distant form me since I live in Brazil… The thing is I am an awakened goddess already and find myself very apart from people who share this same lifestyle. I am professionally lost and always felt that way. My big dream is to work with something that makes me want to wake up in the morning. I have pursuited my passions for many, many years, but never could achieve financial satisfaction where they took me and that made me a burden for my parents, until one day I gave up. Now I am working on my husband´s family business and it makes me feel unsatisfied and empty, for I do not like what I do. I love art, to create, to write, to paint, to craft, I love nature, I love humankind, I love connecting to others like me, but I am trapped in an office doing burocratic work. The most difficult part of it all is the loneliness. Working where I do makes me feel so odd and different from everyone, so distant from familiar needs. Noone sees life as I do and I find it very hard to be myself. Sometimes I feel my powers weakening. I make an effort everyday to maintain my essence, but it´s just so hard and it´s just too much energy thrown away… Now my first child is on the way and I can´t shake this feeling that this is not the kind of environment I want to raise him in. I have this urge to be surrounded by beauty, by constructive thought, by kindness, and I just am not. More important that to me, this is essencial for my newborn. I just keep hoping to belong somewhere, somewhere more like this circle of yours. And to something to shine on my life and guide me to my home.

  57. Nicole

    Goddess Leonie,

I live in South Africa and I’ve been looking at your 2011 Goddess Guidebook and I am so intrigued by it. The problem is, I don’t have a PayPal account and I even looked to see if I can buy it off Take2 (which is a website my family and I use to buy all sorts of books and dvds from overseas) but sadly, it is not there. Is there any other way that I can purchase it?
    :)

    Thanks! :)

I ran across this in an NPR interview with Diane Rehm and it was an aha mommy moment for me. Then I read your “The Mother I Am” post today and thought this may be helpful to you as you navigate your first years together.

As a super-creative new mom running my own design studio, I was flabbergasted when all of my great plans promptly fell apart after my son was born.(16 years ago!) The idea was – Baby-naps while I work – SURE!!!!!

Here is a quote that was a puzzle piece for me – all those years later –

“Andrew Meltzoff, a scientist at the University of Washington, leaned over a baby that was 43 minutes old and wagged his tongue at the baby and she wagged her tongue back. Even at that phenomenally early age, we’re wired to interconnect one to another. And really what babies are wired to do is invade our minds sort of and download what’s happening. And that’s a beautiful process. It’s also a tough process. Moms lose on average 700 hours of sleep in that first year of a baby’s life. They get interrupted on average every 20 seconds and so it’s a very intimate connection, but it is out of that merger of minds that an individual emerges.”

There you have it. The idea that we can accomplish all this other stuff while on constant download/baby patrol is just plain silly. We are not well trained for this and it comes at new moms in varying degrees of hardship.

You are doing so well, so early on, in realizing what is real and doable and what is not – you are well ahead of the game and you little family will only benefit from your wisdom and insight.

There are many ways to do this wonderful job and you are so spot on to see that the most required ingredient is LOVE.

Have a wonderfully wheely today with your pram and know that this will be the first of many prejudices your darling baby will help you overcome!

    Hey merry heart!
I visit this site for a few weeks now. I ADORE what you’ve created. it is so uplifting. im reading your blog archives everday now and it just makes me laugh and smile. groovy as it can be!

I’d like to know what you felt in the beginning.
did you write to anyone in particular back in 2004 or just sent thoughts into space to release them, like i sometimes do ?

I’m gonna turn 22 in exactly four days and now i’m actually looking forward to it. you are such a good example of what can a woman be after 20 haha

i wish my mom read some of your posts and put some weigh off her shoulders too. she needs it.

thanks for this random (or maybe not?) support in my life
    and keep going

i’m glad we’re on the same Earth

    love love

I just wanted to let you know that as a result of your post today – I got straight to Weebly and have set up my first ever blog! Wanted to do this for such a long time. Been reading your blog for over a year and love love love it. Thank you soooooo much for your inspiration. I am so excited to have taken this step.

    Leonie,

I ran across your site while checking in some of my fave pagan blogs. It was completely by chance, but the first step in the dominoes to my epiphany. I read some of your blog entries and your “about” page and just thought “wow! she is too happy!” but then, why not? I was jealous really. Fate just had it that I would stumble upon the book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne that very day! Your site had already motivated me to try to promote my site more, but this book described to be exactly why you are so happy, why you can feel so much love for someone you have never met.

I just wanted to say that your “free stuff” has had a big hand in changing my life and my outlook on it. I am completely happy and even sent love to all of my blog readers. My friends on Facebook are so negative, but I tune them out. I now know that our thoughts can shape our world. Positive thoughts give us a great world, and well, the negative ones stink and give me much of what my life has been like. I was SO negative and had no idea how it was shaping my life.

Thank you so much! And I love your marketing ideas and the look of your site. You really are a Goddess, because why not? You do great things for people and genuinely enjoy your life, and you should!

    Thank you again!

    Hi Goddess Leonie,
Your blog always seems to make me feel good! Thank you for the work you do!

I need your advise: I have fancied myself an actress since I was a little girl but only recently really got into it by doing plays. I have found much anxiety doing this- so much that I can’t sleep an need to take pills in order to do acting. When I am not doing acting and working on my other less pressurized artistic pursuits I don’t need the pills. I recently quit a play I started working on because I became sick with anxiety. This brings me much sadness since I always wanted to act and I am pretty good. Would you say this anxiety is trying to tell me something- that I am on the wrong path? Should I pursue my other artistic pursuits?

Much blessings to you and your family

Hi there, I wanted to tell you I love your blog and it really is always a pick me up when I read it. I am going to ask a question that I hope you don’t take the wrong way. I would really love to join the Goddess Circle, especially for the business course. However we have been through some very rough times here of late. If you want more details please email me as I don’t really want to go into it in a public fashion. Anyway, I was wondering if you ever give scholarships, for lack of a better word, to people? I know you are doing it to make money but sometimes people have sponsors that make things like this possible.
I thank you for your time as you read and answer this.
    With Love,

    Jeanna

    Hi Goddess Leonie!
The beginning of this September, after I attend Burning Man, I am going to be moving to Australia. When I made the connection that you live in Queensland, which is an area I’m going to be visiting, I got very excited. You have inspired me endlessly since I discovered your website, and it would be an honor to be able to meet you in person, if you are able to do so.

    Brightest Blessings!
    Becky

Hello Goddess Leonie! It’s odd… I must ask you though. How did you come to find me? It was you who found me on twitter (PurpleSaffre), and it was so odd, because I have had a great awakening in my life very recently, around the time you found me. When I thought “I should find a teacher” you popped up on my twitter page.
I just want to thank you. I have come to adore you in such a short time. I cannot thank you enough Goddess Leonie! XOXOX

Dear beautiful gorgeous Goddess – who has inspired me more than you can ever, ever know:

I am a pastor’s wife. You know…the Judeo-Christian kind of pastor. Not only that – but a mega church kinda pastor. And I am one of the worship leaders! That means I lead music for anywhere from 1,500-2,000 people on a monthly basis. Generally, pastor’s wive’s are submissive, play the piano and where shirts buttoned up to the top. They also shun the ‘others’. That is where I don’t. quite. fit. in. I am what you would call…a bit of a misfit, and I think that is exactly where the Divine wants me. I think your site is fabulous, and encouraging, and empowering, and beautiful, and so so so important for all the goddesses in the world! (Even if they don’t know they are goddesses!) My question to you is….how can I bring your empowerment, and freedom, and beauty to one of the world’s largest religions in a way they would accept it? What would be a gentle (slightly sneaky) way to open their hearts and minds to the wisdom that is available that is not necessarily orthodox, if you get my jist? I just love what you do…and I need a bridge.

    Help me Goddess.

Love and rainbows and glitter ~ Sarah

Is it too late to sign up for the Summit?. I didn’t see anywhere to sign up.
    Thank you
    Judy

  78. Judy Cote

Folks can no longer sign up for the Summit?? I just discovered all the wonderful things happening…and all the wonderful teachers. Is it to late?

  79. Marissa

Not too late, Judy! You can sign up here: http://www.worldsbiggestsummit.com

    :)

  80. Mary

Will there be a yearbook for 2012 & when ? Thanks.

  81. Anne

    Hi,
I can’t get myself a free ticket for the World’s Biggest Summit even though I registered on the website. What is it I need to do? Thanks a lot!
    Anne

  82. Marissa

Anne ~ There is an email that will have the subject line “Thanks for signing up – Just one more step!” and there is a link in that email that you need to click in order to confirm that we have your permission to send you the Summit emails. Our system records show that that email has been sent six times (once each time you’ve registered) but it hasn’t ever been opened or clicked… so maybe it is winding up in your spam folder? Check there and see if it landed there rather than your inbox… once you click on the confirmation link in that email, you’ll start getting the Summit emails!

    Love & light,
    Marissa

    Hi!

I just wanted to tell you that I love your website and I love the world’s biggest summit. I put a few of the audio interviews on my ipod and listen to them in bed before I go to sleep :-)

And now I ordered your book and can’t wait until I get it (which is going to take a while since I live in Austria).

I also started doing a little bit of art myself (thanks to you and your website) and made some pregnancy and mommy figures out of clay, one of them I’m planning to give away for X-Mas.

Thanks for your great work and inspiration
    Sandra

    Hi Lovely Goddess Leonie :)

I’ve just read your beautiful post about unschooling. I have a lovely 7 year old boy who goes to our local primary school here in Perth. But for a while I’ve been feeling it’s not right (just that inkling you know?) and with all the furore over a telcom tower going up next door to it, I’m thinking even more of taking him out and homeschooling. But fear is stopping me! It’s so different, but them so am I!!! And my intuition is telling me his bright sparkley spirit is slowly being squished out of him by school. So … I asked the universe for more help, who is doing homeschooling in Oz, send me something!!! PLEASE! And then your post arrived in my inbox this morning, complete with a couple of links for unschooling. Just wanted to say thanks, and that I’m so glad I’ve found a place where square pegs are celebrated :) I don’t feel quite so alone now. Thank you. I’m guessing you will be homeschooling? Sending much love from dear old WA, Larissa xxxx

  85. Nancy C.

Hi, I wanted to know if you will be selling a 2012 creating your goddess year workbook. Thank you!

  86. faerieprincess

I love your website and your energy and would love to join. I’m a little hesitant because in the past I have been rejected from various organizations for being a lesbian. I can’t change it, and I’d love to know that this would be a place where I am welcome and accepted for how I was born. I don’t feel anything is wrong with me because I happen to romantically love a woman instead of a man. It’s still the same emotions, desires, etc.
You seem very upbeat, positive, loving and inspiring. I hope to join your website.

  87. Tiffanie

Hi, Goddess! I like that you share photos of your art/journaling process.
What kind of paper do you use?
And what are your favorite pens and paints?
    Thanks! :-)
    Tiffanie

I love what you do and like many feel a kinship. In fact I’m an Aussie expat having lived in the Obi Obi Valley in Qld AND having a twin sister whose name is Leonie. I’m also a kids book illustrator and lifelong artist and wanted to invite you to be my guest for my heros art journey course inspired by Joseph Campbell’s work on the same subject and Valerie Frankels From Girl to Goddess: The Heroine’s Journey. I think you’ll love it and you might enjoy getting nurtured in someone else’s class. Do check it out at http://www.herosartjourney.com and my site http://www.mirareisberg.com and let me know if you are interested : )

    Happy New Year Goddess Leonie!,
I want to join the Circle this year, it is my New Years gift to myself.
I was hoping that I can pay in Aussie dollars (it just helps financially not to have to pay for the fee of the foregn currency, if you know what I mean). Can you please let me know if that is possible.
    cheers,
    Melissa
